CBS To Make A New Planted Spinoff Of Criminal Minds

CriminalMindsCBS, the home of the spinoffs, is about to try it again. CSI lead to CSI: Miami, CSI: New York and now CSI: Cyber. NCIS lead to NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans… and lets not forget that NCIS was a spinoff itself of JAG. Now the "eye-network" is going to try it again with a planted spinoff of Criminal Minds this spring.

The new series will be introduced in an episode of Criminal Minds later this season with the idea of it debuting on its own in the fall. The episode will be written by showrunner Erica Messer and will focus on an FBI team that helps American Citizens who get into trouble abroad.

This of course is not the first spinoff from Criminal Minds, in the 2009-2010 season they launched Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior with Forest Whittaker and John Constantine himself, Matt Ryan. The series lasted one season.

The new spinoff has a good chance to go to series as the only planted spinoff that hasn't been picked up by CBS was the NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff, NCIS: Red.
