Halo Online Modders Adamant To Make Game Available Outside Of Russia

Halo Online was announced a few weeks ago, leaving a lot of people excited about the prospect of Halo on a PC again. At least they were until they read that the game would only be available in Russia.

That hasn't stopped a group of modders called El Dorito from trying to bring the game to the world. They got their hands on an early version of the title and are working to bring it to everyone.

This caught the attention of Microsoft, who unsurprisingly issued a DCMA takedown to the group. That could have been the end of the story, except that the group are now even more adamant to bring the game to the wider community. In an interview with TorrentFreak, modder Neoshadow42 stated:

The game was going to be free in the first place. The PC audience has been screaming for Halo 3 for years and years, and we saw the chance with this leak. The fact that we could, in theory, bring the game that everyone wants, without the added on stuff that would ruin the game, that's something we'd be proud of.

At the end of the day, El Dorito aims to deliver exactly what everyone wants. The closest thing to a Halo 3 experience as possible, but on PC. If we can manage that, I'll be more than happy.

That is fine and all, but I'm pretty sure if this ever went to court, the law would likely judge it's Microsoft's decision as to what the game does in what territory. And yeah, I'm not sure just because the game is free in one territory and lots of people want it is a good enough legal defense in this case.

That's not to say I don't want to play the game mind, because I really do.
