Mattel Releasing WWE Elite Red Rooster on Target Online Store Thursday
Finally, after months of speculation and uncertainty after being revealed last year, WWE fans rejoice: Red Rooster is coming. The figure will release on Target's Online Store this Thursday, April 4th, just in time to help fans and collectors celebrate Wrestlemania weekend. The Elite figure will run you $24.99.
Now, this is a pretty great sculpt. right down to the red mohawk Terry Taylor sported while playing the character starting in 1988. He will include his entrance jacket, kneepads, and features Mattel's Elite articulation.
Terry Taylor has long hated this gimmick, moving around the WWE ring like an actual rooster and even yelling "cock-a-doodle-doo." I mean, just look at what Mattel wrote on the back of the figures box. JBL once wrote on his blog about the origin of the gimmick, and no surprise: it was a rib.
The Red Rooster was a rib; they wanted him walking through airports moving his head back and forth like a chicken," Bradshaw wrote. "It was a rib from the office to put him in the gimmick to begin with. I can't think of anyone in history that had more heat than the Rooster. Before I arrived in WWE, the boys, allegedly, had cut up the Rooster's suit for being a stooge. What did he do? He stooged the rib, that's why he had monster heat.
So if you wanna add one of the most unpopular WWE characters of all-time to your collection, go here on Thursday.
