A Much More Intense Puzzler: We Played Crystal Crisis at PAX West

During PAX West, we got a chance to sit down with Nicalis and check out some of their upcoming games, and we started with Crystal Crisis. If you haven't had a chance to check this one out, the best way I could describe it is an ultra hyper version of Puyo-Puyo with celebrity cameos. Essentially, you drop colored blocks into a playing field two at a time. As the blocks grow in color, you can create combos with crystals of the same color to clear them out and send punishment blocks over to the other side as you race to keep your side lower.

The game has cameos in it like Isaac from The Binding of Isaac, or Atom from Astro Boy, all with their own special abilities that you can use on other players to create havoc for their side and make it harder for them to clear blocks out. Crystal Crisis is due out sometime this fall, but we weren't given an official date at the time of playing it.
