Fresh Take on a Modern Classic: We Review Keep Calm and Game On

Chances are if you're reading a bard game review, you've at some point in time played Cards Against Humanity. The game hit us nearly six years ago with crude, dry, racist, and near-insane levels of adult humor that make you laugh hard and cringe harder. But after a while, the game and its responses just become tiresome and you get to a point where, even with expansions, you kinda know what humor is going to win your friends over or what card will kill a round. For those of you looking for an alternative that's just as funny and quick, we may have what you need as Breaking Games (Exploding Kittens, Poop) have their own game called Keep Calm and Game On.

Fresh Take on a Modern Classic: We Review Keep Calm and Game On

Keep Calm and Game On plays a lot like Cards Against Humanity with two specific differences: you're playing to question instead of a random situation or phrase, and the rounds are quicker because you're usually looking for the one that makes you laugh the most as opposed to whatever the perfect card. If you happen to get a perfect card that matches what you're answering, good for you! Buy truly, that isn't the main goal.

Comparing the questions above to the responses below, you can see the game is pretty easy going with a lot of adult humor. But rather than creating a set of cards that turn every situation into a game of one-upmanship or trying to be the most clever person in the room. The goal is for cheap laughs at any expense. Of course, it is up to the person asking the question who gave the best answer, so it does help to know your audience and figure out what might work the best on them.

As you can see from the samples above, there are nice situations and there are raunchy situations, with a multitude of short answers that can work on multiple levels. This is, by far, one of the best versions of this kind of game format we've played in the past few years. And trust us, we've played a lot of CAH with people who still adore the game. If you're looking for an alternative with fresh jokes and funnier scenarios, Keep Calm and Game On is an amazing alternative that's worth your time and money to look into.
