Mondo Release Of The Week: The Portal Soundtrack!

Mondo releases new vinyl special editions every single Wednesday. They are they ultimate edition of whatever they put out, featuring extensive liner notes, brand-new commissioned artwork, and always have a limited-edition size. The vinyl itself is usually colored or a photo disc, as well. Basically, it is like the Criterion Collection of movie and gaming soundtracks. And gaming fans, rejoice — this week's release is the soundtrack to Portal!

Mondo, in conjunction with Valve software, is proud to present the premiere vinyl release to the soundtrack the legendary puzzle adventure PORTAL. The music to PORTAL by Aperture Science Psychoacoustics Laboratories (Mike Morasky) is incredibly dense, featuring super atmospheric ambient soundscapes that you can literally get lost in, recalling such ambient pioneers as Brian Eno and Tangerine Dreams. It also features the incredible ear worm of 'Still Alive', an absolutely charming pop song that once heard is never forgotten! This limited edition record is housed in a deluxe, debossed, 'Magic Wallet' style jacket designed by design wizard Alan Hynes (FIGHT CLUB, ANOMOLISA).

Portal is one of the most beloved gaming franchises of all time. Fans have gotten some great collectibles already, including a line of Funko Pop vinyl figures and dedicated levels in the LEGO Dimensions game. After last week's release of Freddy's Greatest Hits, it's cool to see a gaming release this week.

On top of this week's releases, Mondo is also offering free shipping on all music orders through December 3rd in the US and $10 international. They do a phenomenal job shipping their products, so that's a great deal.

As with all Mondo releases, this will go up for sale on Wednesday at Noon central time. The edition size for this one is limited — EXTREMELY limited — so do not hesitate if you want to add this to your collection. You can grab a copy here tomorrow.
