The Cards Of Pokémon TCG: Silver Tempest Part 10: Water-Types

In November 2022, Pokémon TCG released the final main series set of the Sword & Shield era. The expansion, Sword & Shield – Silver Tempest, came out on September 9th, 2022. It is the twelfth set under the Sword & Shield banner and it adapts the Japanese sets Incandescent Arcana and Paradigm Trigger, with its Trainer Gallery subset adapting cards from VMAX Climax. The Lugia-themed Sword & Shield – Silver Tempest also continues both Radiant Pokémon as well as the Trainer Gallery, a special subset of Character Rares, Character Super Rares, Full Art Trainers, and Black & Gold VMAXes that began in the first set of the year, Sword & Shield – Brilliant Stars. Follow me on a journey through this latest set as we appreciate the artwork, discuss the card's place in the set, and theorize as to what certain elements of the expansion may imply for the future of the Pokémon TCG. Today, we continue to the end of the Water-type section of of Sword & Shield – Silver Tempest.

We begin with Omastar V by Saki Hayashiro. I'm noticing that the final year of the Sword & Shield era isn't just focused on Hisui in honor of Pokémon Legends: Arceus or Sinnoh in honor of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but the last leg of this era also seems to be pulling in many Kanto favorites for their Ultra Rares including Charizard, Machamp, Aerodactyl, and now Omastar.

Speaking of Kanto, Articuno gets a solid holo-rare by Naoyo Kimura, who uses soft, textured pastels to create wintry vibes for this Legendary bird. The snowstorm continues with this Snorunt card by sui, who depicts this shivering Pokémon bundling up as it tip-toes through wintry woods. Finishing up today's previews is Atsushi Furusawa, who contributes the art for this set's Keldo card which actually matches the vibe of the Pokémon GO promotional graphics used for the Keldo event that happened this month. I wonder if there was any crossover in plans there.

Stay tuned for the continuing journey through Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield – Silver Tempest. Next time, the spotlight continues with the main set of this expansion.
