Superhero Stunt Actors Enter Melee in Ultimate Live-Action Super Smash Bros.
Micah Moore, YouTube host of The Legend of Micah, assembled stuntmen from various superhero films to create a live-action adaptation of the popular Nintendo franchise, Super Smash Bros. The timing coincides with the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. The video, called Super Smash Bros. – Stunt Tribute, recreates the fierce 4-player action of the game. The characters in the fight are Mario (Ben Aycrigg), Link (Alex Hashioka), Ness (Tang Nguyen), and Captain Falcon (Matt Scheib).
Aycrigg, Hashioka, and Scheib worked on various Marvel-oriented projects like Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Venom, and Captain America: Civil War. Hashioka and Scheib worked on The Walking Dead Nguyen's done work in Hancock and The 5th Wave.
The 3-minute beatdown makes masterful use of in-game sounds, aerial maneuvers, and creative use of props consistent with gameplay. Despite cheap-looking costumes and set, super moves, and lack of platforms, the bout is a joy to watch for any Smash enthusiast. You may want to stick around for the anti-climactic ending. How faithful to the game were they? Sound off in the comments.
