Final Fantasy XV Gets A Ludicrous And Beautiful New Story Trailer

I must confess, Final Fantasy remains a blind spot in my gaming history and as such, my familiarity with the lore is close to nil. Final Fantasy VII had a guy called Cloud in it. Oh, and Lightening had a spin off of Final Fantasy XIII. That is about it.

I say this because I was mesmerized at what was happening in this new trailer released for the game. While I do know that the games don't have an explicit continuity, I have no context for anything that's going on here. Kings, flying spaceships, big monsters, leisurely walking through cities and a leather clad boy band from the 90s on a road trip. None of this makes any sense.

But I like it.

All joking aside, this really does look gorgeous. The character animations are a real highlight. This might be some of the best I've seen when it comes to subtlety and fluidity. Also, the little town plaza that the character was walking through was really quite beautiful.

I love the idea of a fantasy road trip game too. So much so I can't believe we haven't seen it before.

I'd say to settle in for a long wait though. The trailer closes with "Now in Development". To me, that seems to suggest that work on the game is only just getting on track. I mean, it's been in development for years and years, but hopefully Square Enix are officially on track with the game after the troubled production.
