Konami Have Officially, 100% Cancelled Silent Hills

large

And we are done here.

Over the last few days, we've been covering the story about the supposed cancellation of Konami's Silent Hills. First, Guillermo Del Toro said it wasn't happening. Then Norman Reedus said much the same. And even if you were the most hopeful of fans, it's now time to call the time of death.

Publisher Konami have stopped playing coy and have come out to say the game has been officially cancelled. In a Statement, the Japanese company said:

Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic 'Silent Hills' project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.

You'll notice that Hideo Kojima's name has been struck from the list of creators, following in line with Konami trying to distance themselves from the Metal Gear Solid creator as much as possible. I really am interested to see what happened between the two parties to create such an uncermoncially break up.

I wouldn't hold my breath about Del Toro coming back either. I think his involvement may have been predicated on Kojima's, but never say never I suppose.
