Five WWE Figures Mattel Needs to Make Elite Figures For
Mattel's WWE line of figures is one of the most vast and successful figure lines around. Every year, the design team puts out wave after wave of figures covering all eras of the company, and we collectors gobble them up as fast as we can grab them off the peg or click the order button. Having had the license since 2010, and doing well over 150 waves worth of figures, you would think they had pretty much everyone done already. But even now, there are still plenty of Superstars and gimmicks that for one reason or another do not have figures. We cobbled together a list of five of our most wanted WWE figures, which you can find below.
Note: Owen Hart is our most wanted, along with being fans #1 choice. This will never happen, as Owen's widow has steadfastly refused to allow the WWE to profit off of his name following his tragic death in 1999. Personally, my figure collection will never be complete without him, and maybe someday it can happen. I won't be holding my breath.
Sabu
The ECW hardcore legend is one of the most iconic performers from the promotion. While he didn't have much of a run to speak of with the company, fans from that era would love to get a Mattel version of him. He has had a few other figures over the years, but it has been a long time. As with a couple others on this list, he was part of a class-action lawsuit against WWE involving brain trauma and injuries sustained while performing. That suit is now over as of September, and performers are free to sign legends deals with the company again. Maybe he will be one of them.
Adam Bomb
Bryan Clark performed as Adam Bomb from 1993-1995 in the WWE, part of the New Generation Era of gimmick wrestling the company pushed after the departure of Hulk Hogan and the Vince McMahon steroid trial devastated business. A big hoss of a man, he never really got a serious push in the WWE, but fans loved his gear and look so much he hung around the midcard for awhile. He has had very few figures done, and could be one of the cooler additions they could do.
The Mountie
Jacques Rougeau Jr. is a member of the famous Rougeau wrestling family, and was part of two successful tag teams in the WWE. He is probably best known for portraying The Mountie, with his cattle prod and Canadian Mountie ring gear. He has said in interviews at various points that The Mountie was the best time of his career, when he was firmly inserted into the mid card and had matches with Macho Man Randy Savage, Undertaker, and such. He also had a memorably feud with Big Boss Man, and actually defeated Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Title at one point. He lost it two days later to Roddy Piper, but still. Only two Mountie figures have ever been made, and he is one we would love to see return to plastic form.
Nikki Bella
Now, there are Nikki Bella figures. She and her sister Brie have had Battle Packs made a few times, and Nikki has had a couple basic releases. She needs an Elite figure. She is a two-time Divas Champion, including holding the title for over 300 days at one point, and is one of the most popular women's competitors in the companies history. The fact she does not have an Elite figure already is a crime.
Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
The WWE Hall of Famer has had a career spanning 40 years, holding numerous titles and wrestling for pretty much promotion that matters. One of the all-time greats, he needs a Mattel figure badly, and there were some rumblings not that long ago that he might. Here's hoping.
