Let's Take a Look at Mattel's Best of the Attitude Era WWE Elite Figures
WWE's new Best of the Attitude Era Elite figures from Mattel have begun to ship. The figures are exclusive to Amazon (and also on Ringside Collectibles) and look to celebrate key players in arguably the best time to be a wrestling fan. Three figures have been announced so far: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, and The Rock. The first two releases are Stone Cold and Jericho, with The Rock to follow in the fall. I got my hands on my set, so let's take a look!
I really love the current box used for the Elite WWE figures. No wasted space, with giant picture window on the front to show off the figure. The back of the box for these is cool — the key art is spot on, and I love each guy's career description from back then. All around, MOC collectors should be pretty happy with these. Paint pen autos would really pop on these, maybe a white paint pen would be best.
The first figure we will look at is the Stone Cold. The Attitude Era's biggest star, Stone Cold comes with a healthy amount of accessories. An SCU University cloth shirt, necklace, WWE mic, and Stone Cold hat are all included. The coolest one however is the purple version of the winged eagle WWE Championship. If not for all of that, this Stone Cold doesn't really do anything to separate it from others we have already gotten. This one still has a great sculpt, and when you add all of the accessories you get a pretty sweet-looking figure.
But the star of the show is the Chris Jericho. This is hands down the best Jericho they have ever done. He comes with a cloth "Raw is Jericho" shirt and a WWE mic. Most important in a debut Jericho figure is nailing the face and hair, and they knocked it out of the park. The shirt fits snug, and pulling his hair over it just makes it look awesome. He is easy to pose, and I love that slightly smug look on his face. The only ding I will give it is that the kneepads are a little annoying. Other than that, I have nothing else to complain about.
These are two fantastic figures. Fans and collectors alike should make it a point to get these as soon as possible. You can order yourself a set on Amazon right now, or pay a little extra if you are a MOC collector and have them shipped in figure defender cases on Ringside Collectibles here.
