The Mortal Kombat Twitter account has shared some new details on what fans can expect from the game's reveal event next week. While the reveal is going to focus on gameplay, we do know that MK11's reveal event will give us some hints on the game's characters and story.

The game was first revealed at the Game Awards last month with a teaser trailer showing us a fight between Mortal Kombat mainstays Raiden and Scorpion. The trailer ended with news of a community reveal event scheduled for mid-January. After the announcement, however, no news was forthcoming from NetherRealm studios about what fans could expect to see during the event.

However, we now know that the stream will show us some gameplay, a bit of story, and even some character reveals. While we don't know if the character reveals will focus on new characters or on confirming series mainstays to the roster, we're sure the news will be received well by rabid fans either way. After all, it has been quite a few years since Mortal Kombat X hit consoles in 2015.

So far, it seems like Mortal Kombat 11 will follow in the footsteps of the last two Kombat games by providing a 2D experience.

The Mortal Kombat 11 community reveal event will be taking place in London on January 17th, 2019. The game is set to release on April 23, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
