Ubisoft CEO Says Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Is 'Good News'
One of the most substantial announcements at E3 this year was that Microsoft are making games backwards compatible on Xbox One. Very soon we will be able to whip out old 360 games we own and get them going on the new generation hardware (assuming the game is on a pre-approved list).
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently spoke to GameSpot recently supporting this decision from Microsoft too, saying that Ubisoft will use the functionality to bring old games to the new generation:
It's good news for gamers that Microsoft was able to work on the compatibility aspect. They expect to come with 100 titles quite quickly, so that's really good news.
It will help some of the brands, like Splinter Cell for us, to come to Xbox One, which is great.
This could be a great way for companies to try and garner interest in more waining series. If they have sales on old 360 games, it gets people playing them, and this way, it doesn't require a consumer to hook their 360 up again.
