More Details Emerge for the Western Release of Shining Resonance: Refrain

Shining Resonance Refrain

During a live broadcast today, Sega provided some interesting information on the upcoming remaster Shining Resonance Refrain, that is coming to the Western market as announced just the other day.

The first thing we learned about the western remaster is that the game will not be censored. No cuts were made for the western version, which means we will get all the original content. So if you're sitting there waiting for all of the bikinis, have no fear. Sega is willing to provide.

We will also be getting a demo of the game, though Sega is still checking with the production team to figure out the timing of release. So far, any release date rumors are just based on retailer placeholders and do not reflect the game's actual release window. For now, "summer" is the only release date to be taken seriously. As for that release, we may see Shining Resonance: Refrain release simultaneously on Steam and console.

In terms of optimization for the console release, so far we know it will run at 1080p on the Switch as long as it is in docked mode. However, the frame rate is still to be determined.

We also got confirmation that any cutscene with voice acting in Japanese will get an English dub, while those that do not have voice acting will continue to be text-based. As for the soundtrack, the songs will remain in Japanese without getting an English equivalent.

The broadcast also included about an hour of PS4 gameplay for the remaster, which showed off combat, exploration, the titular Shining Dragon in action, and several cutscenes.

And for those JRPG fans who like to have Japanese audio for their games, Shining Resonance: Refrain will have a language toggle feature, allowing you to watch cutscenes in Japanese but still have the game's text read in English.

You can check out the gameplay in the Sega Live broadcast below. The broadcast also included some information and gameplay from Yakuza: Kiwami.
