New York Toy Fair: Jakks Pacific Shows Off Godzilla, Sonic, Mario, and More!
Jakks Pacific had a very crowded booth showroom at New York Toy Fair this year, as they showed off their product line for the upcoming Godzilla film, new Super Mario and Mega Man figures, Harry Potter, and even roleplay costumes for the LEGO Movie 2. The big news for them heading into the show was that they will be producing new toys and figures from Sonic the Hedgehog, and they brought some of that to show too. Let's take a look at what they had shall we?
Their Godzilla line features so many different scales. From smaller diorama pieces to a Godzilla that stands the size of a toddler with an articulated tail, there will be something for fans of all ages and interests when the line launches this spring. Exclusive to Walmart will also be a Godzilla facemask with full electronics built in. Think Chewbacca Mom, and you get the idea.
They also had their latest offerings from their Super Mario and Mega Man lines, including a new Bowser's Castle playset with sounds and playable parts. Plenty of new figures are also on the way, and they are stocked and restocked so often that you shouldn't have a problem tracking them down. The big piece in the Mega Man Jakks Pacific area is their roleplay arm cannon. It features light-up parts and fits very comfortably. They also had figures on display.
Somic was up next, and on top of plush, they had two main products to show. The first four figures revealed the last week are in fact bendy figures. Four will be offered in the first wave to start. The other is a neat track toy that launches Sonic and his friends around with a launcher to mimic the original games. Pretty neat.
They are continuing to produce blind box Harry Potter wands, now with die cast versions! They also have playsets with minifigures inside, and can be used interactively with their full size wands to cast spells and turn off light and such. They also had a prototype of their Hedwig that responds to commands and phases when spoken to.
Wrapping it up, a cool Buzz Lightyear ship playset is coming later this year, and it can sit up or down into a table or a command center! Jakks Pacific will also be moving heavier into roleplay costumes for Halloween this year, including fully licensed LEGO Movie 2 costumes made of designer foam and taking the shape of a minifigure. These seemed really cool, and of good quality, so be on the lookout for those later this year.
