Mario Kart Tour is headed to Tokyo as the game's second set of courses arrive in the game.

The update is coming to the game starting at 3 AM ET on October 9. The official Mario Kart Tour Twitter account posted some quick concept art from the upcoming tracks. You'll race through scenic vistas and picturesque locales collecting coins and sabotaging other players.

According to the tweet, new characters are coming in addition to "nostalgic courses." It's not clear what that means at the moment, but everyone should be revving their engines about new tracks, right?

Mario Kart Tour first kicked off with its first destination, New York City, when it debuted. Musician Mario and Super Mario Odyssey's Pauline were both available at the time. Lakitu hosted a special edition of Mario Kart Tour News, which he'll presumably do again with the Tokyo Tour debut.

Every two weeks, Mario's new mobile racer is set to get new tours and special races for players to compete in, all inspired by real-world locations. Unfortunately, the free-to-start game places a lot of emphasis on trappings that require you to pay fr things here and there, such as grabbing green pipes to give you drivers, karts, and gliders. Ditching some of the frustrating nickel-and-dime pushes throughout Mario Kart Tour would have been a boon.

If you're looking for a quick race on the go, Mario Kart Tour is fun for a while, and it's free to try. You won't be out any money if you decide you don't like it. Otherwise, even though it's getting fun rotating tour destinations, just go ahead and play the Switch version. At least you know what you're getting when you buy DLC for the Switch edition of Mario Kart 8.
