Mattel's 40th Anniversary Star Wars Hot Wheels Are Here, And They've Brought Biggs
It's Star Wars Celebration come early for Hot Wheels and Star Wars fans. Mattel has launched a new line of Hot Wheels cars, and star ships, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). These are part of the pre-Star Wars Celebration announcement extravaganza that's been happening all week.
Thanks to fans, Biggs Darklighter, the Rebel Alliance pilot who was to be Luke Skywalker's friend from Tosche Station in Tatooine, is being immortalized in the series with his own Hot Wheels car. Darklighter never made it to the films though Garrick Hagen was cast in the role, but he is a fan favorite, it seems. Or at least his mustache is.
The series includes character cars, some of the famous star-ships from the films like the Millennium Falcon, and CarShips. Which are obviously cars designed to look like star-ships from the films.
