Pokémon Go Community Day: Could PvP be Coming Soon?

Pokémon Go Community Day: Could PvP be Coming Soon?

Hope you all have your Pokémon pants on today, because we have a ton of Pokémon Go news for you: From the Community Day Weekend to December's Legendary Pokémon drops to even a possible PvP tease.

Pokémon Go is celebrating its Community Day event this weekend, which means certain Pokemon are going to spawn more frequently in-game. The buffed Pokémon include every Community Day creature featured in the game so far, with some extra bonuses to keep you busier than ever. Unlike usualCommunity Day events, this time, the bonuses are lasting all weekend long, starting today and running through December 3rd.

The full list of buffed Pokémon incudes:

  • Pikachu
  • Dratini
  • Bulbasaur
  • Mareep
  • Charmander
  • Larvitar
  • Squirtle
  • Eevee
  • Chikorita
  • Beldum
  • Cyndaquil

You'll also be able to find shiny variants of those Pokémon as well. And if you evolve them to their final form during the Community Day block, you'll unlock that monster's unique move.

All past Community Day bonuses are also coming back for this event, so you get double catch experience, double catch stardust, and double incubator effectiveness. However, the bonuses will only be in play at certain times of the day.

Similarly, six Legendary Pokémon will return to PokéGo once December hits. The new batch of Field Research tasks hitting the game next month will give players another chance to catch six previously featured legendary Pokémon from the first two generations of Pokémon.

The Legendaries returning in December are:

  • Articuno
  • Zapdos
  • Moltres
  • Raikou
  • Entei
  • Suicune

Finally, in a Tweet this morning, Niantic Labs seems to have teased a possible PvP component coming to PokéGo in the near future. The official game account tweeted an image showing a Pokémon trainer standing on a field with some pretty familiar markings. It looks a lot like the markings seen in a Pokémon battle arena, doesn't it?

As IGN reports:

Niantic's been teasing something for several hours, and we'll update this story if it reveals anything more specific today.

Fans are taking the hint and running with it. One of the most popular responses is nothing but the popular Surprised Pikachu meme. The tweet's other top replies are largely dominating by excited memes and proclamations that PvP is about to arrive. The tweet had reached over 8,000 likes, 2,000 retweets, and 1,000 replies just 15 minutes after it was sent.

So, we'll update you on any possible PvP news once we get word.

UPDATED:

Niantic has confirmed PvP Trainer Battles in Pokémon Go. We don't have a launch window just yet, but at least we know the mode is coming our way.
