X-Men '97 (Animated Television Series)
X-Men '97 is an American animated superhero series from Marvel Studios Animation. It serves as a direct revival and continuation of the seminal 1990s show X-Men: The Animated Series. Picking up one year after the original's finale, the series follows the X-Men as they navigate a world without their mentor, Charles Xavier, under the new leadership of their former adversary, Magneto, while facing escalating anti-mutant bigotry and new, devastating threats.
The show was met with near-universal critical acclaim for its balance of reference for its source material with the demands of a modern animated series. Series creator and executive producer Beau DeMayo was fired in March 2024 after working on the first two seasons.

The central arcs involve Cyclops and Jean Grey's relationship being tested by the arrival of Jean's clone, Madelyne Pryor, and the birth of their son, Nathan. Storm is de-powered by an anti-mutant weapon and embarks on a journey of self-discovery to regain her abilities. The season's pivotal event is a cataclysmic, genocidal attack on the mutant nation of Genosha, a shocking and violent turn that results in the deaths of numerous mutants, including Gambit.2 The season finale sees the team scattered across time after defeating the sentient Sentinel, Bastion, setting up a future confrontation with the ancient and powerful mutant Apocalypse.
