Bleeding Cool Game Awards 2017: Best Indie Game
For Bleeding Cool's Best Indie Game of 2017, our three esteemed games judges were asked to weigh in on the year's top Indie game titles to determine which was the absolute best indie game of the year.
The nominees are:
- Pyre
- What Remains of Edith Finch
- Hollow Knight
- Night in the Woods
- Nidhogg II
- Sundered
The judges' scores were:
Games | Madeline's Score | Patrick's Score | Gavin's Score | Total |
Pyre | 5 | 1 | 3 | 9 |
What Remains of Edith Finch | 3 | 2 | 1 | 6 |
Hollow Knight | 1 | 5 | 4 | 10 |
Night in the Woods | 2 | 3 | 2 | 7 |
Nidhogg II | 6 | 4 | 5 | 15 |
Sundered | 4 | 6 | 6 | 16 |
Despite this category being filled with very different, very well crafted indie games, there was a clear winner among our judges. What Remains of Edith Finch just stuck with every one of us as we wandered around the deserted Finch estate, piecing together the lives of Edith's long departed family. The game's got a solid replay value as you find different smaller details each time, and because it's a short game, you can play it a few times over pretty easily. Despite the competition, Edith Finch was a top highlight for each of the three judges which makes this a solid win despite the intense competition. That said, every one of these games is well worth your time.
