Michael Rooker is well loved by the fan community, whether for his role as Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead, Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy, or going way back to Svenning in Mallrats. The actor brings a crazy fun vibe to his characters that comes through on the screen. Recently he showed up at the Sideshow Collectibles office and joined in on their Sideshow Live recording to do an unboxing of a Baby Groot figure.
During his time there, not only did he unbox the very cool-looking figure — which might be a 1/1 scale — but he answered fans questions and told stories about different shoots. He goes into how much he's gotten to add to characters like Yondu and Merle and how he was ahead of the curve on gender-neutral labeling by saying "y'all." He also talks about how parents ask him to do Yondu's whistle for their kids, and how he kept the arrow from Guardians. He's also reached that age where he forgets how old he is — he remembers his birthday because he buys himself a gift, but he doesn't remember which birthday it is.
The video is almost a half-hour long and covers a lot of ground… oh, and he gets the figure out of the box.
