Ubisoft Delays Skull & Bones but Announces Four Other AAA Releases
Ubisoft has announced that pirate RPG Skull & Bones will be delayed until some time after March 2020. However, they will be unveiling and releasing four other AAA games by the end of March 2020 instead. Ghost Recon Breakpoint is one of those four games planned for release by next March.
The news was broken through Ubisoft's recent earnings report, which indicated the reason for Skull & Bones updated release window is a development delay that's pushed the game beyond Ubisoft's 2019-2020 fiscal year which started April 1, 2019 and will end on March 31, 2020. So even if Skull & Bones releases next April, it still misses the current fiscal year window.
Skull & Bones Producer Karl Luhe did reassure fans that the team is hard at work on the game to make it "as awesome as it can be."
Because the team is hard at work on the game, it will not be making it to E3 this year. So if you were planning to go raiding on the high seas at E3 2019 in June, you will unfortunately have to belay those plans.
That said, Ubisoft's four AAA games which will release in the current fiscal year are expected to be big ones. Ubisoft's updated financial target for its net bookings is cited as €2,185 million (or around $2.4 billion USD). Those earnings are expected to be led by Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the three other AAA titles.
We'll likely find out what other games Ubisfot has up their sleeves for release this year during their pre-E3 press conference.
