Super Smash Bros. Archives
Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game series published by Nintendo and featuring a variety of Nintendo and third-party characters. The franchise was created by Masahiro Sakurai who has directed every game in the series so far.
The gameplay of Smash Bros differs from most traditional fighting games in that the objective is to knock opponents off the stage instead of depleting their life bar.
The original Super Smash Bros was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 console. The second title in the series, Melee was released in 2001 for the GameCube and was the best-selling game on that system. Brawl was released in 2008 for the Wii. The fourth game in the series was released for the Nintendo 3Ds and Wii U in 2014. The fifth, and current, installment of the franchise Ultimate, was released in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch.
The series has been developed by several companies, with the first two being developed by HAL Laboratory while several companies worked on Brawl. Bandai Namco and Sora Ltd., developed Smash Bros. Ultimate.
