Warhammer 40,000 (also known as Warhammer 40K) is a tabletop miniature wargame created by Rick Priestley and produced by Games Workshop. The first edition of the game's rulebook was published in October 1987 with the current, eighth edition, published in June 2017.
Warhammer 40,000 is set in the distant future where a stagnant human civilization is in conflict with alien races and supernatural forces. The models in the game are a mixture of humans, aliens, and monsters wielding futuristic weaponry and magical powers.
Like other miniature wargames, players take part in scale battles using miniature figures of warriors and combat vehicles. Players take turns moving their models around the field and simulate combat between models using the rule system and a set of six-sided dice.
Warhammer 40K is one of the most popular miniature wargames world-wide.

Games Workshop has been loyal to a fault towards their invested player-base. In most every way, from Warhammer 40,000 to Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop has been fostering a good working relationship with players who know their games. Recently, it has been revealed that Games Workshop is putting out a new line of games, known as […]
Greetings, loyal readers! I've been contending with the nastiest, most mucusy sort of cold for the past few days (but of course, I didn't let that stop me from writing games content for you all!). Whether or not I was productive, though, I have to ask… Who got me sick? Was it my fiance's father? […]
Ho, ho, ho! It's winter, and apparently it's also the grand opus for this year's flu and virus season. The weather is getting colder, and various US states are getting hit a bit worse than others with the flu. Did you get your vaccine this year? No? Good. After all, today we are reviewing the […]
Today, I am reviewing the started boxed set used to start a Daemons of Nurgle army. This isn't the most current review I could do – one might even say it's as old as time immemorial – but because Games Workshop's release schedule doesn't include a holiday sale, I figured I would go over a […]
Steel Sky Productions announced this week that their upcoming game Warhammer Underworlds: Online will hit Steam's Early Access in January. This version of the combat strategy game is adapted from the physical game of the same name. Which includes the Beastgrave, Shadespire, and Nightvault expansions. Basically, it's a much faster version of the tabletop, but […]
Games Workshop has come out with a lot of games in the span of their existence – and I mean a lot. Between Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Necromunda, Age of Sigmar, Warcry, Kill Team… It's a lot to handle. So, when Games Workshop came out with their primary airspace-combat game Aeronautica Imperialis and sent it our way, I was a bit skeptical of the design […]
Of all Games Workshop's published games, Warhammer 40,000 is arguably their most famous. It's among their oldest, and most acclaimed games and is a progenitor to all manner of other games by other publishers. It stands to reason, then, that when Warhammer 40,000 gets a revamp or offshoot, fans clamor for such a game. At Bleeding Cool, we […]
On Wednesday, the NOVA Open, a large wargaming convention and tournament site, began, renewing old grudges and starting bitter new rivalries. It was absolutely rocked to its core, however, when Games Workshop unveiled a number of new model releases. The releases cover a great multitude of Games Workshop's major titles, with a few other surprises […]
Games Workshop has come out with a whole multitude of different wargames. From the incomparable Warhammer 40,000 to the obscure-yet-acclaimed Mordheim, it seems as though Games Workshop could exhaust their intellectual property at any second, right? It seems the answer to that question is "wrong!", because not long ago GW rebranded their fantasy wargame Warhammer into […]
Earlier this month we saw Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest be released for mobile on iOS and Android, and with it, we got a chance to chat with some of the people behind the game. Today we chat with Chief Creative Officer Louisa Gallie and Chief Operations Officer John Stewart from Hunted Cow about the game […]
