  • Comics in Times of Arab Revolutions: Tracing Visual (Hi)stories of Socio-Political Transformations. Speaker: Rasha Chatta (MECAM Fellow 2021). Chair: Friederike Pannewick (Philipps-Universität Marburg / EUME). 4pm UTC.
  • Artreach's last workshop of the quarter. The workshop presentation will be this Wed 5/26 at 7pm PT and the workshops will be held Thurs 5/27-5/28 from 4:30-6:00 pm PT. The topic will be COMIC ART and will be led by Roma Edwards and Coral Utnehmer. 
  • Comics Tips & Tricks: Hair, Clothing & Accessories Online Event by The Creative Living Room. These workshops are designed as part tutorial and part Comics Shop Talk. Illustrator Keville Bowen has themed six separate sessions that will help you refine your comic drawings and learn about comic genres from around the world (kid-friendly). Then try out his tips and tricks while chatting about your favorite series, characters and artists.
    Each session is $10. 10-11pm UTC.
  • Are Comics Literature? Event by Delray Beach Public Library. Dr. Eric Berlatsky will discuss and explore some of the history and formal qualities of comic books, as well as their artistic, aesthetic, and/or literary value. Part of the conversation will explore definitional questions ("What is a comic?" "What is a Graphic Novel" "How are they the same or different?") as well as the elements of comics that make them similar to and/or different from related media like film or literature. The question of the educational value or comics and/or graphic novels will also be discussed. Midnight UTC.

Comic book birthdays today

There may still not be much of a party atmosphere right now. It all depends on which state you are living in. But comics folk are always getting older and still celebrating that special date.
